Description

This is a small terrace of early 19th century houses, designed by S Adshead and built in 1904. It comprises numbers 205 to 211 on the north side of Brighton Road. The terrace is three storeys high and originally featured seven windows, though it was intended to be completed with two further houses to the east, which never occurred. The facades are stuccoed. First-floor balconies are constructed of iron and wood, each supported by four slender columns rising from the ground floor and featuring a canopy. The doorways are round-headed and set within fluted frames. Numbers 205 and 207 have mansarded roofs. Numbers 209 and 211 have a cornice and a pediment above the central window, incorporating a molded panel and swag. Venetian shutters are fitted to the second-floor windows of numbers 209 and 211. The buildings as a group demonstrate group value.
