Description
Lloyd's Bank, located at 41 and 43 South Street, was built around 1870 and is noted for its prominent position at the crossroads of two main streets in the town center. The building features a facade divided into four straight sections that curve at the junction of South Street and Liverpool Road. It stands three storeys tall with an attic and is finished in stucco. The facade includes eight sash windows, with two in each section, framed by 18½ fluted polished granite Corinthian pilasters that are paired at the ends of each section and next to the left-hand doorway. These pilasters support an entablature and a parapet that has three pairs of openings for dormers. The second-floor windows have moulded frames and pendants, while the first-floor windows are topped with segmental pediments on brackets. The ground-floor windows feature moulded arches on imposts, with fielded panels below.
