Description
Paddocks Farmhouse is a house, formerly a farmhouse, dating from the late 15th century or early 17th century, with a lobby entrance. The house was refaced in the 18th century and features a 19th-century canted bay addition. It is built of red brick with some stone dressings, has tile hanging on the gable end, and a tiled roof with an off-central brick cruciform stack and an end brick stack. The building is two storeys high and has four bays, with an integral outshot to the rear. It features a moulded brick eaves cornice, a sandstone pilaster at the right end, and a sandstone plinth. The windows are irregularly arranged, including a two-storey 20th-century four-light bay with a pediment above on the right, a similar three-light window with a pediment to the left, a simple casement on the ground floor with rubbed brick voussoirs, and a two-storey three-light canted bay on the left. There is a single modern door. The Paddocks, a 19th-century wing to the south, is not of special interest. The interior contains beams with lambs tongue stops and the roof is of Queen post construction. The house was formerly known as Kidd's House on an estate map from 1638.
