Description

No. 53 on Brighton Road is a building dating from around 1830. It is two storeys tall and features two windows along with one blocked window space. The exterior is stuccoed and includes four Ionic pilasters, a string course, and an eaves cornice. The roof is hipped and covered with slate. There are frilled hoods above the windows for blinds. All the windows are sash style, although the glazing bars are missing on the ground floor. The entrance has a round-headed doorway set in a fluted frame, topped with a semi-circular fanlight and a trellised porch. There is a later wing added to the west side of the building.
