Description
The gates, gate piers, and stone wall of St John's College, located to the southwest of the house, date from the 17th century and were probably designed by P. F. Robinson. Originally, this structure adjoined a lodge. The carriage gateway features wrought iron gates that are flanked by panelled stone piers, which are topped with hand-carved stone terminals above a cornice. These terminals depict four dolphins with a shell between them, supporting a ball cap. Additionally, there are two round-headed pedestrian arches positioned at an angle to the main gateway, complete with imposts, keystones, and cornices above. The stone wall on each side also angles in alignment with the arches.
