Description
60 and 62 Ifield Road is a late 16th century timber-framed farmhouse that was altered and converted into two cottages in the 19th century. It is currently under single ownership. The ground floor is faced with brick, while the first floor features pointed tile hanging. The building has a high-pitched roof covered with fishscale tiles and includes three wooden casement windows. The brick facing and window arrangements are likely from the 19th century. Inside, the ground floor rooms have ceilings with cross beams and joists that are stop-chamfered and exposed. The upper floor reveals massive trusses with tie beams, and the ceiling is at collar level. There is an early scarf joint in the wall plate in the south bay, and two open fireplaces are present in the ground floor rooms, although the brick stacks have probably been rebuilt.
