Description
Westgate House is an 18th-century building, possibly dating from 1737, located on the north side of Westgate. It features a hipped tiled roof and has two storeys constructed of red brick with grey headers, although these have all been renewed. The facade consists of six window bays, with a central portion flanked by two projecting wings; the west wing has two windows, while the east wing has one. There is a small cornice with modillions beneath the eaves and a small pediment above the centre. A band runs between the ground and first floors. The windows are set in segmental arches with keystones and are sash windows without glazing bars. The flat arched doorway is adorned with stuccoed pilasters and an entablature, and the door itself has six moulded panels. There is a modern projection added to the ground floor on the south side and a bay added to the north front.
