Description

This is an 18th-century house located on the east side of North Pallant. The building has a low frontage compared to the adjacent property at number 5. It is characterised by an old, tiled gabled roof with two dormers, and a brick dentil cornice running below the eaves. A stack is positioned at each end of the building. The house is constructed of red brick and features five window bays, each with sash windows set within flush boxes and flat arches. All window panes retain their original glazing bars, and the arches are highlighted with rubbed brick voussoirs. A six-panelled door is situated towards the south end, set within reveals and above a semi-circular fanlight with Gothic detailing and a flat arch. The doorcase is adorned with Doric pilasters, triglyphs, and a rectangular pediment featuring modillions. A two-storey annexe is attached to the south end, with a slightly higher frontage and one window bay. This section also has a tiled gabled roof and sash windows with flush boxes, segmental headings, brick voussoirs, and intact glazing bars. A panelled door is located within a flat-arched brick doorway. Numbers 1 to 7 (consecutive) and number 9 form a group.
