Description
This is an early 19th-century building comprising four properties, 37 to 40 Washington Street. They form a continuous frontage with numbers 33 to 36. The building is two storeys high and presents a symmetrical facade with one window to each property. The construction is of red brick with grey brick headers laid in alternating bands. The sash windows retain their original glazing bars and are set within slightly segmental arches on the ground floor. Properties 37, 38, and 39 have six-panel moulded doors with projecting top panels and glazed lights. Each doorway is framed by a slightly segmental arch and a flat hood. Number 40 features a stuccoed hood supported by stuccoed columns. Numbers 1 to 18 and 22 to 40 Washington Street are designated as a group.
