Description
Shopwyke House, part of Westbourne House School, is a large square mansion built around 1848. It has two storeys and features five windows on each front. The exterior is faced with Roman cement and includes long and short quoins, a stringcourse, and a modillion eaves cornice with egg and dart moulding. The roof is slate. The windows have architraves above them, although the glazing bars are missing. The west front has a prominent central section with three windows and a pediment above that contains an attic window. In front of this projection is a large portico supported by four Ionic columns. The main doorway features a door with six fielded panels. There is also a service wing that is of a lower elevation and has five windows on the north side.
