Description

The Old Cottage is a cottage that dates back to the 16th century, with a possible earlier core, and features an 18th-century bay on the left, along with further extensions from the 19th and 20th centuries. The structure is timber framed, with the rear exposed, while the front showcases whitewashed brick and rubble infill, and blue and red brick cladding on the end extensions. It has plain tiled roofs, which extend in a catslide over the 20th-century extensions at the front. The building stands two storeys tall, with what was once the rear elevation now serving as the entrance front. There is a massive sandstone block chimney stack on the front right and another stack on the left. The first floor has one window, while the ground floor features five 20th-century leaded windows. To the right of the entrance, there is a planked door, and the rear displays irregular leaded fenestration. Inside, some of the timber frame is visible.
