Description
This is a late 16th-century cottage, extended in the 17th century to the rear and at the ends in the 18th and 20th centuries. The front of the cottage is timber-framed and has a plinth, with whitewashed render cladding. The end wall on the left is brick, and parts of the frame are exposed at the rear, with some cement render on brick infilling. The roof is plain-tiled and half-hipped, with a ridge crest. There are two storeys, and a corbelled end chimney on the right. Two diagonal stacks from the 17th century are located at the rear left, set on an offset plinth. The front has three 3-light casement windows on the first floor, and three ground-floor windows with cambered heads. A part-glazed door is located to the right of centre, within an open-gabled porch. A gabled stair vice is incorporated at the rear. Inside, a heavy spine ceiling beam with run-out stops is exposed on the front floor, and an old exterior wall is preserved inside the rear of the cottage.
