Description
Stanley Villas comprises a pair of houses built around 1830. They are situated on the north side of Guildford Place. The houses are three storeys high with a four-window facade. They are constructed of red brick with a cemented stringcourse above the ground floor and an eaves cornice. The roof is hipped and covered with slate, retaining its original glazing pattern. Each house has doorways accessed by a flight of eight steps, featuring pilasters, pediments, semi-circular fanlights, and originally six-panel doors with a distinctive pattern, though the door in number 35 is now modern. An unusual detail is the patterned reveal surrounding the original doors. A two-storey, one-bay annexe, set slightly back, is attached to the east end of number 37 and also retains its original glazing pattern.
