Description
Knightons is a house dating from the early 17th century, originally built as a two-bay end chimneystack structure. It features a timber frame, with the ground floor refronted in brick in an early 19th-century diaper bond style, while the box frame remains visible on both the front and back of the first floor. The right side gable displays an exposed frame, with stretcher bond infill on the ground floor and tile hanging above. The house has a tiled roof and a large external brick chimneystack on the left side. It is two storeys high with irregular fenestration, primarily consisting of 20th-century casements with leaded lights. The front elevation includes a first-floor pivoting sash window, a ground-floor sliding sash window, and a wooden weather porch featuring an early 19th-century plank door. There are two tension braces on the front, one of which is concealed by a row of tiles. The side elevation has a 20th-century triple casement window, while the rear has two leaded light casements with metal ties. A section of the original lath and plaster is preserved, and there is a 20th-century gabled extension attached to the rear. Inside, the house features an open fireplace and exposed ceiling joists.
