Description

Lapscombe Cottage and Old Lapscombe are a house, originally a farm, dating to the late 16th century, with extensions from the 17th and 19th centuries. The house is timber-framed and covered in colourwashed stucco, with a plain tiled roof and tile-hung gable ends. It is two storeys high. A prominent feature is the large, complex stack of chimneys with moulded and corbelled tops located to the right of the centre. The original front of the building faces the rear. A plinth is visible on the left side. The windows are irregularly placed leaded casements, with four windows on the first floor and four below. A tile-hung gabled porch with a part-glazed door set within margin lights is situated to the left of the centre. A further entrance door can be found in a brick and tile-hung wing to the right, which features diamond-pane leaded casement windows. A door is also present at the end of this wing, sheltered by a gabled hood supported by braces.
