Description

This is a pump located on the south side of The Pepper Pot, dating from the early 19th century. It was made by Clinton and Owens, Engineers, and is constructed from cast iron. The pump features a tall cylindrical shaft that is approximately 1.5 meters high, complete with a plinth and ring moulding. The head of the pump is larger in diameter and includes a manufacturer's name plate positioned above the spout, a fluted domed cap topped with a bud finial, and a long curved handle with a bud terminal. The pump was originally situated on the opposite side of The Pepper Pot but was relocated to its current position in the 1870s.
