Description

The ice house opposite Little Hammer is a structure dating from the late 18th century or early 19th century. It features a domed chamber that is approximately eight feet in diameter, constructed from two layers of red brick, although the outer layer was partially missing at the time of the survey. A flat stone covers the apex of the dome. The entrance has been blocked with 20th-century breezeblocks. Inside, the chamber is lined with Roman cement. This ice house likely originally belonged to Hoders Cottage and Cards House.
