Description
The Crown Inn is a public house located on the south side of High Street in Oxted. Originally built in the 16th century, it has undergone extensive restoration, with a façade dating from around 1870. The building features a timber frame with applied framing at the front, whitewashed brick, and rough-cast above. It has a plain tiled, half-hipped roof with end stacks and a front stack on the right.
The structure has three storeys, with a gable front wing to the right that has a second floor jettied on moulded brackets. The main roof block on the left has moulded board eaves. The second floor has four sash windows, while the first floor features a bowed casement window on the right, a circular window in the centre, and a "Swallows House" type window on the left. The ground floor projects and has flat roofs to the left and centre, with bowed casement windows flanking an arched porch recess. There is a half-glazed door at the rear of the porch, along with further half-glazed doors to the left of centre and on the right. The right-hand return front displays exposed framing.
