Description

Church Farmhouse is a house with a core dating to the 17th century, significantly altered in the 18th century. The left side is timber-framed with a brick and stone plinth, while the centre and right have a red and blue brick facade. The centre section is clad with diamond-pattern tile hanging, and the first floor of the left return front has plain tile hanging. The roofs are mainly tiled, with slate covering the front right and over the front right extension. The extensions to the right are parallel ranges. A hipped roof sits over the left side and the front right extension. There are end ridge stacks to the main roof on the right and a detached stack to the right end. The house is in a “T” shape with a wing to the left and a pent roof extension to the front right. The house has two storeys over a basement, with an attic accessed by a casement dormer window on the left side. The fenestration is irregular, featuring a leaded casement window on the first floor to the left, another first-floor window to the right of centre, a glazing bar sash window to the centre of the ground floor, and a cambered-head casement to the right. A half-glazed door is set up eight steps to the left of centre.

Inside, the ground floor exhibits stone flagged floors, and the come ceiling frames are visible. The first floor contains original ledged doors, exposed wall framing, and ceiling frames, along with an old spiral stair leading to the attic.
