Description
Moorhouse Farm House, including Nos 7 and 8 Moorhouse Cottages, is a house with attached cottages dating from the 16th century, with 19th century extensions and alterations. The main farmhouse has a timber-framed core, which is clad in galleted rubblestone with brick dressings. It features plain tiled roofs with end stacks on both ranges. The farmhouse is two storeys high over a basement, with three pointed arch leaded casements across the first floor that have lozenge leading bars, and camber head basement windows. The central entrance consists of a six-panel door with a leaded fanlight, situated under a gabled open timber porch that has leaded glazed side panels on brick and rubblestone dado walls. There is a pent roof addition on the left end.
To the right, there is a one-bay extension to the rear range, which has one leaded camber head casement on the ground floor. Further to the right, another range extends back at right angles to the farmhouse, connecting to Nos 7 and 8 Moorhouse Cottages. This early 19th century section is built of galleted brick and rubblestone with brick dressings, and has a plain tiled roof with a central stack. It is two storeys tall, with four casements across the first floor and ground floor windows that are also under cambered heads. The ends have planked doors, with No. 7 on the left and No. 8 on the right.
