Description
The piers and walls surrounding the churchyard of St Michael at the Caterham Guards Depot were built in 1886 by William Butterfield. They are constructed from banded brick, flint, and ashlar. The entrance features a pair of round gate piers made of flint and ashlar, topped with conical caps. On either side of the gate, the walls are made of brick and flint, with engineering brick coping. These walls extend approximately 40 meters to the northwest and 60 meters to the northeast, enclosing the churchyard to the north. The gateway provides access to the Chapel of St Michael the Archangel.
