Description
This is a house, now divided, dating back to around 1600. It was altered in 1665 and some parts were demolished in the 18th century. The house is constructed of ashlar wealden stone, with a Horsham slab roof and plain tiles to the rear. Three diagonal stacks are located to the rear left, three to the right of centre, and one to the right. The left side of the building is two storeys high, while the right side is three storeys with an attic in a hipped roof, the dormer being largely hidden by a parapet that steps up to the right of centre. There are three stone mullioned windows on the second floor to the right. Angle bay windows, rising through two storeys, are present at the left end, right of centre, and to the right; the left-hand angle bay is taller, extending up to the parapet height. Five mullioned transome leaded casements are on the first floor, those not in the angle bays having flat hood mouldings. A planked and studded door is set within a chamfered stone surround, with a moulded arch above, within a stone gabled entrance porch to the left of centre. The porch gable is corbelled with scrolls at each end, topped with square urn finials, a flat hood moulding, and a fluted cornice over a dressed stone four-centred arched opening. A square cartouche is positioned in the centre of the gable. Ornate lead hoppers are on the drains between the angle bays on the right. Wings extend at a right angle to the rear. An additional angle bay is on the left-hand return front.
Inside, there is a Jacobean screen and a newel post staircase dated circa 1610, along with several stone fireplaces.
