Description
Nos. 45-51 on High Street are two hall houses that have been divided. They date from the 15th century, with a 16th-century cross wing on the left and an 18th-century addition on the right. The buildings are timber framed with whitewashed brick infill and feature plain tiled roofs, which have a ridge stack to the right and another in the center of the gabled cross wing. The houses are two stories tall and consist of three framed bays on the right, displaying curved bracing. The windows are irregularly arranged casements, most of which are leaded. There is a planked door, partially glazed, to the left of center for the middle cottage, and a half-glazed door to the left at the angle of the cross wing (No. 47), along with additional doors to the right. Inside, the framing is visible, with Queen-post construction exposed on the gable of the left section.
