Description
Branford Wells is a house dating back to the 16th century, which has been restored and extended in the 20th century to the front and right side. It is timber framed and has brick cladding, with a brick plinth at the base. The upper part of the exposed timber frame is rendered, while the first floor on the left and the extension to the right are clad in diamond pattern tile hanging. The roof is tiled and hipped to the right and over the extension to the front. There are rear ridge and end stacks.
The house has a T-shaped plan, with a wing projecting from the front, slightly right of centre. The fenestration is irregular, with six casement windows on the first floor (three in the wing). A tall diamond-pane leaded casement window on the ground floor of the wing rises up into applied timbering on the first floor, flanked by braces. A ribbed door is located in the right-hand return front, set at a right angle to the main house. To the right is a lower brick and tile-hung garage extension with a gabled bay at the end. A pent-roofed extension is located at the left end.
