Description

Laurel Cottage and Cannon Cottage are two cottages dating from the 16th century, with 19th-century extensions and alterations. They feature exposed timber framing with thin scantling on a rendered plinth. The right side has whitewashed brick infill, while the left is clad in whitewashed brick. The cottages have plain tiled roofs that step down, with two oversailing gables on the right and in the center.

The buildings are two storeys high, with two framed bays on the right that have curved braces on the first floor. The left side has three window bays separated by projecting piers, with an eaves plat band and brick dentils. There is a central ridge stack on the left and an offset end stack on the right. The left side has regular fenestration, including three casements on the first floor and two glazing bar sash windows below. The right side features irregular leaded casement windows, with two on each floor.

The entrance to Cannon Cottage, located to the right of center, has a ribbed door beneath an open steep gabled hood. Laurel Cottage has a part-glazed door at the right end, sheltered by a pent roof. There is a single-storey brick extension at the right end with a rear stack and one casement window. Additionally, there are two wings at right angles to the rear.
