Description

The alcove or grotto located on the lawn to the south of Woburn Park was built in the mid-18th century and designed by architect William Kent. It features a heavy coping in the shape of a pediment above an arch made of massive helm voussoirs, which recede to create a half dome. Woburn Park and the listed structures within its grounds form a group.
