Description
Cockshut is an original two-storey, three-bay building dating from around 1800. It features a tiled roof with very tall end chimneys that have swept buttresses. The exterior is finished in stucco with incised lines. The sash windows have glazing bars and are set in plain reveals. A central raised panel holds a half-glazed door framed by a moulded architrave, with a blocked fanlight above that features a decorative medallion. To the right of the door, there is a small round-headed window.
The building includes a trellised loggia topped with a swept lead roof. To the left, there is an extension that is one tall storey with two windows, designed to match the original structure. The right wing appears to be late 18th century but features a modern two-storey projection with five windows. The rear elevation showcases a well-preserved conservatory from around 1900 on the left side, along with French windows that have margin lights, situated under a wood trellised loggia.
Cockshut and Cockshut Cottage (No 35A) form a group.
