Description
Chilmead Farmhouse is a building from the 18th century that has been re-fronted, indicating it has undergone some changes while retaining its older structure. The house features large stone quoins positioned about 1 foot back from the corner on the left return. It consists of two parallel ranges and a cross link, all covered by a hipped tiled roof with swept eaves. The main façade is made of red brick and stands two storeys high with three windows. The ground floor has sash windows with glazing bars, while the upper floor features 19th-century casements. A central six-panel door is set within a modern gabled porch. The back wall includes some old leaded iron casements. Attached to the house is a one-storey kitchen wing that has heavy ceiling beams, although the roof has been rebuilt using old timbers. Inside the main house, there is one old stop-chamfered beam.
