Description

These are a pair of early to mid-19th century cottages located on Pendleton Road. No. 8 is wider than No. 9, and includes an additional ground-floor window. The cottages are built of dressed sandstone, with No. 8 using coursed stone and No. 9 using random stone with ironstone fragments. Both have red brick dressings and quoins to No. 8. No. 8 features 19th-century one-bar casement windows, and a six-panel door recessed within a modern gabled brick porch. No. 9 has two modern casement windows, two 19th-century sash windows in box frames, and a small modern window inserted on the first floor. A modern gabled wooden porch is present at No. 9. The cottages are topped by a low-pitched slate roof with chimneys at the centre and ends.
