Description

This is a house built in 1908 by the architect Sir Edwin Lutyens. It is constructed of brick with a plain tile roof and four large chimney stacks. The house is two storeys high with an attic space containing dormers with segmental arches. The front facade is symmetrical, with five bays, projecting end wings, and a recessed central section. It features glazing bar casements; the first-floor windows are square, while the central entrance bay projects slightly and incorporates Tuscan pilaster strips flanking an arched door surround. The panelled front door is sheltered by a flat hood with a wooden panel above. The garden front has five bays, with a central three-bay projection articulated by pilaster strips and piers, topped with urns and featuring a stone coping. The ground floor has arched French doors, while the first floor has square casements and recessed panels above. Single-storey wings extend from either end of the garden front.
