Description

This is a house dating from the 16th century, originally a three-bay central chimney house. It was refaced in the early 19th century. The house is timber-framed and has a brick facade constructed in a Flemish bond pattern, which is now painted. It has a tiled roof. The building is two storeys high and has three windows. First-floor windows are early 19th-century nine-pane sashes, while the ground floor has one similar window and one with twelve panes. A platband and plinth are present. A 20th-century shopfront on the ground floor is not considered to be of particular interest. Inside, there is an open fireplace with a wooden bressumer and a sandstone hearth, as well as chamfered ceiling beams with lamb's tongue stops. An early 19th-century staircase features stick balusters, and there are two-panelled doors.
