Description
Springs is a cottage located on the banks of a stream, within the grounds of the former Rookery, which was demolished in 1968. This 18th-century building was the birthplace of the economist Thomas Malthus. The cottage is timber-framed and has been refaced with painted brick, although the timbering with painted brick infilling is still visible in the west wall. It features a stringcourse and a tiled roof. The cottage has casement windows designed in the early 19th century, which have pointed heads to the panes. It is two storeys tall and has three windows, with a modern addition located at the back.
