Description
Northlands is a house located in Abinger, dating from the 16th century with 17th century extensions on the left and 20th century extensions on the right and rear. The building features a timber frame clad in whitewashed brick at the bottom, with 20th century tile hanging above. It has plain tiled roofs, with Horsham slabs on the left-hand pitch of the wing, which is hipped with a gablet on the right. The house has an L-shaped plan with a gable end wing on the left. It is two storeys tall with stacks located at the left end and the rear right of center.
On the first floor to the right, there are three 20th century diamond-pane leaded windows, and three more below with a buttress in between. There is a small window above the door at the junction of the ranges. To the left, there is one 4-light 20th century diamond-pane window on each floor. The left end features a single storey pentice extension, while the right end has a single storey 20th century sun lounge extension. There are flat-roofed extensions at the rear. Inside, there is a substantial frame of good quality that is exposed.
