Granary approx. 20 metres south-east of Highlands Farmhouse

Granary, now store. c.1800, altered. Weatherboarded timber frame on stone staddles, red tile roof. Rectangular single-cell plan, at right-angles to the barn behind it. Single storey, raised on staddles; the entrance front in the north-east side has a board door offset slightly to the right (approached by wooden steps), 2 small rectangular ventilating windows under the eaves with internal shutters; and a hipped roof. The right-hand end (towards the house) has an 8-pane fixed window (perhaps replacing a former doorway); the rear has ventilating windows like those at the front. Interior: machine-sawn timber frame; hand-made hinges to the window shutters. This item forms a close functional group with the barn behind it (item 3/141 above).
