Description
The stable block at Joldwynds is a former stable building that has been converted into garages. It was constructed around 1873, likely designed by Philip Webb. The structure features a combination of brick and Bargate stone at the lower level, with painted weatherboard above, and has been restored with plain-tiled roofs.
The building has a half-H shaped plan with a wing at the rear left and an entrance court at the front. It consists of two storeys and an attic in the central range, while the side ranges are one storey with attics. There are brick ridge stacks positioned to the right of the centre, left of the centre, and on the left wing.
The roof includes a hip-roofed dormer with two-light casement windows. The first floor has irregular casement fenestration, including two three-light windows. The ground floor features part-glazed sliding doors. The right wing has a hipped roof with a louvred dormer, while a flat-roofed casement dormer is located in the re-entrant angle with the main range. Below the right wing, there is a three-light casement window to the left and a narrower two-light casement window to the right of centre, along with a door to the right. The left wing mirrors this arrangement with a casement window and door in the gable end.
On the left return front, there is a corbelled brick dentil band above the ground floor. The centre has a hipped roof dormer, while the left side features a gable-lit attic. A door is situated in the centre beneath a pentice extension of the main roof.
