Description
Aldermoor Cottage is a house dating from the 17th century, with 20th-century extensions added to the ends and rear. The building features a timber frame that is underbuilt in brick and sandstone rubble, with thin framing exposed above and brick infilling. The extensions are made of stone and brick. The left half of the roof is covered with Horsham slabs, while the right half has plain tiles and is taller with a hipped end.
The cottage is two storeys high and consists of three framed bays, with the right half being higher and projecting forward. It has a central ridge stack and two small leaded casement eaves dormers to the left of centre, along with a larger casement to the right. There are two ground floor casements on the left and one on the right. A central 20th-century timber framed porch, which is gabled with rendered gable infill, features a carved 20th-century door with strapwork decoration.
On the left-hand return front, there is a gable-lit attic that is tile hung, a basement window with a cambered head, and a weatherboarded pentice roof extension set back to the left end.
