Description

Burford Corner is a building situated on the south-east corner, probably of timber-frame construction with gables at the centre and ends, now tile-hung. The centre of the north front dates to the early 19th century. The building is three storeys high and has three windows. The front is roughcast, with an eaves cornice and a slate roof. The central window is flanked by two narrow chimney breasts, and the glazing bars are intact. The first-floor windows have dripstones above them. A doorway features moulded pilasters and a semicircular fanlight. A verandah with trellised wooden columns is also present. Modern additions have been made to the east and west of this section of the building. A historical note indicates that Madame de Broglie stayed at the cottage located behind the building after her escape from France in 1792.
