Description

This is a house, dating to approximately 1800, which has been altered in the 20th century and is now used as offices. The exterior is red-brown brick laid on a rendered plinth, which becomes taller on the right side as the ground slopes down. The roof is slate with deep eaves, and there are end chimney stacks at the rear. The building is two storeys and has an attic, and a basement beneath. It has a four-bay front with an irregular arrangement of windows. The attic storey has four casement windows with glazing bars, each set under gauged brick arches. The first floor has three tripartite sash windows with glazing bars; the central window has 12 panes, flanked by windows with 4 panes in the side lights. The ground floor on the right has two plate glass sash windows, while a tripartite sash window to the left has a four-centred arched top. The central entrance has double doors, each with three fielded panels, set in a renewed stone surround. The overlight has intersecting tracery. The right hand return front features a tile-hung gable end with coloured bands of diamond point patterning. Inside, there is a 19th-century staircase with a scroll-ended newel. A dentilled eaves cornice is present in the ground floor room on the right.
