Description
26 Chertsey Street is a house that has been converted into a shop and offices. It dates from the 17th century and has been altered in the 19th and 20th centuries. The building is timber framed and covered in colourwashed roughcast over incised render below, topped with a plain tiled roof. It has two storeys and attics, with a gable end facing the street and corbelled stacks on both the left and right sides. In the attic storey, there is a Venetian window, although one light has been blocked. On the first floor, there are two paired 19th-century plate sashes beneath moulded lintels. The ground floor features an early 20th-century shop front with plate glass windows and a central recessed glazed door. The left-hand return front has irregular fenestration, and some ceiling frames are visible inside.
