Description
The Old Forge is a house that was formerly a village forge, dating from the 17th century. It features a square panel timber frame with red and brown brick infill and has a plain tiled roof with a tile-hung gable end on the left side. The building is two storeys high, with gabled outer bays that contain queen post trusses, and it has lit attics in the end gable. There are corbelled rear ridge stacks located to the right of the centre, which have been rebuilt. The first floor has four casement windows, while the ground floor has five windows beneath pentice drip boards. A planked door is situated on the left-hand return front. There is a 20th-century extension at the rear right and an outshut at the rear centre. Inside, the building features deep brick fireplaces and substantial framing that is exposed.
