Description

The Sturgis Tomb, located 2 yards to the left of the cloister, is a tomb dedicated to Julian Sturgis, who died in 1904. It is made of terracotta and designed in the Art Nouveau style. The tomb features a rectangular shape with a low wall about six inches high that has a moulded top, enclosing a rectangular plot. At the head of the tomb, there is a raised headstone on a rounded plinth, which has a semi-circular top adorned with mourning angels and scroll decoration. This design also includes an inscribed bronze roundel.
