Description
Norton Farm House is a timber-framed house dating from the early 17th century, which was restored in 1963/4. The central section of the house has a brick underbuild using brown and blue brick, while the timber frame is exposed and includes curved bracing on the first floor. The first floor is brick-infilled. The house has plain tiled roofs. It is two storeys high. Notable features are the fine, triple, diagonal brick stacks set on plinths to the front right, and a corbelled rear ridge stack to the left. The main facade has four framed bays in the centre, with gabled crosswings at each end. There are three leaded casement windows on the first floor in the centre of the house, and a single three-light window in the first floor of each crosswing. The ground floor has one window on the right-hand wing, a 20th-century pentice roof square bay with a window on the left-hand side, and four casement windows in the centre. A 20th-century gabled brick and timber porch with a door is situated at the junction of the main section with the right-hand crosswing.
