Description

Nos 1-3 Bury Street is a house that has been converted into offices. It was built in the early 19th century and has undergone some alterations in the 20th century. The building features sandstone blocks laid in courses, with yellow brick dressings and a low-pitched, hipped slate roof. The basement storey has been refaced in brick during the 20th century, and there are rendered stacks and quoins.

The structure is two storeys high over a basement, with bracketed eaves and end stacks at the rear. It has three bays across the front, with three 16-pane glazing-bar sash windows on the first floor, some of which still contain old glass. On the ground floor, there are two 16-pane sash windows, all of which are set under gauged brick heads and have brick surrounds. The basement features two 20th-century cambered-head casement windows.

To the left of the centre, there is a four-panel door that is accessed by a flight of steps leading up to a flat-roofed porch. This porch has square piers on pedestals and is decorated with Adamesque scroll and anthemion motifs. There is another door in a similar porch, which has panelled reveals and a trellis on one side. The 20th-century extensions at the rear are not considered to be of special interest.
