Description

Pewley Cottage is a late 17th-century cottage located on the west side of South Hill, Guildford. The construction is of whitewashed brick on a stone plinth, with a plain tiled roof. The cottage is two storeys high and features a central stack at the rear. A plat band runs above the ground floor, and the eaves are brick, dentilated. The front façade is regularly arranged with three bays. The first floor has three 16-pane glazing-bar sash windows within architrave surrounds and open boxes. The ground floor features two cambered-head sash windows; the window to the left is an older 16-pane window, while the window to the right is a 12-pane replacement. The centre doorway has the top two panels glazed and decorative roundel detailing on the lintel, sheltered by a pent roof supported on scrolled iron brackets, which is accessed via steps with iron railings.
