Description

This is a late 16th-century house, significantly altered in 1689 and with a 19th-century extension added to the right. The front is timber-framed with galleted sandstone facing, red brick quoins marking the corners, and pebbledashed render covering the street facade. The extension is built of brick. The roof is tiled, with a hipped section over the extension. The house is arranged in an L-shape, with the front facing at a right angle to the street, and has projecting extensions to the right end.

It is two storeys high, with a basement, and a plat band runs over the ground floor, incorporating a stone plaque above the door which bears the date 1689. A substantial ridge stack is located on the right end, beneath an overhanging roof. The window arrangement is irregular. On the first floor, there are two windows, including a 2-light wood mullioned casement. The ground floor has two windows, with a 3-light window on the right and a blocked window on the left. A panelled door sits to the right of centre, sheltered by a depressed brick arch. The right extension features a square form with a 3-light casement window on each floor. A pentice roof extension at the right end is weatherboarded.

Inside, some of the original timber framing can be seen, notably stop-chamfered ceiling beams with run-out stops.
