Description
Nos 94 to 98 on High Street in Epsom are 17th to 18th century buildings that stand two storeys tall. They have a color-washed roughcast exterior and feature casement windows, with two later two-storey bays added to the center. The roof is covered with old tiles and is hipped to the right, with flat-topped dormers. There are four doorways with flat canopies; two on the right have a large glazed cast iron canopy supported by posts. The right-hand portion includes a small modern shop front, while the left-hand portion is known as Yew Tree Cottage, which has a front garden featuring an old clipped yew archway. Paled fences surround the property. The yew archway is the last remaining example of a custom noted by Celia Fiennes as common in Epsom at the end of the 17th century.
