Description

This is an early 16th-century building, substantially refronted in the 18th century. It was known as the "Redd Lyon Inne" in 1577. The building is two storeys high and has a colourwashed roughcast exterior, featuring three sash windows. An early 19th-century shop front was inserted in 1838. To the left is a door with glazing bars and a fanlight, alongside a shallow, canted shop window with glazing bars, a decorative frieze, cornice, and slender panelled pilasters. A central door with pilasters, a frieze, and a cornice is flanked by sash windows with flush panelled shutters on either side. The roof is steeply pitched and covered with slate. A side elevation reveals exposed timber framing and an old leaded window. The building forms a group with numbers 9 to 17 (odd), the King William IV Public House, and number 21.
