Description

Epsom College Chapel was built in 1895 by Sir Arthur Blomfield ARA & Sons. It is constructed of red brick with ashlar dressings and features a pitched slate roof. The chapel has no aisles or chancel and consists of 8 bays, which are separated by buttresses with tumbled brick set backs. Each bay contains a 3-light window with Perpendicular tracery. There are also 5-light windows at the east and west ends, both featuring Perpendicular tracery. The building has a moulded eaves cornice and a crenellated parapet, with crocketed finials above the buttresses and gargoyles at the corners. Two bay chapels project to the north and south, with parapets that follow the gable line. There is a porch on the north side and a canted chapel projection on the south, topped by an open wooden lantern with an octagonal shingled spire. This chapel was built to replace an earlier chapel that was too small.
