Description

The entrance piers, railings, and gates to Newlands date to the 17th century, with 19th and 20th-century restorations. The entrance is defined by whitewashed brick piers, approximately 10 feet high and set 40 feet apart. A low brick wall, 1 foot high, runs beneath the iron railings, with stone coping on the piers. The piers are topped with globe finials. The iron railings are approximately 6 feet high, with taller sections every 4 feet. The central gates are 6½ feet high, featuring scrolled railings attached to iron gate piers approximately 7 feet high.
