Description
The Barley Mow is a public house dating from the mid-18th century. It features whitewashed brick on a rendered plinth and has a plain tiled roof. The building is two storeys high and has a ridge stack located left of centre, with an end stack to the right. The façade consists of six bays, with a moulded wooden band over the ground floor. The first floor has four glazing bar sash windows, along with two blocked windows to the right of centre. The ground floor also has sash windows, and there is an angle bay window to the right of centre. A half-glazed door is situated to the right, sheltered by a tiled pentice roof supported by wooden brackets that extends over the angle bay window. To the left of centre, there is a 19th-century gable front porch with two half-glazed doors, tiled ridge cresting, and a gable finial. At the rear, there is a pan tiled catslide extension, along with 20th-century additions to the right-hand return front and the rear right.
